The Love letter Mining Company is named after Love Letter Creek located in the Coast Range Mountains of Trinity County California. As much or more gold was taken from this area of the state as the more famous areas of the Sierra Mountains.
The Davenport gas/mechanical is a Bachmann locomotive that is mostly stock. I changed the staunchens that were attached to the radiator grill, added Kadee couplers, and scratched the exhaust, bell, light, and horn. Not much weathering as this represents a new modern locomotive on my railroad.
The little boxcab is built on a Bachmann Davenport chassis using a Banta Modelworks cab kit. There are also a few added detail items. The window glazing was obscured with dust because the interior was unfinished and the electronics were visible.
Both locomotives are battery powered with Phoenix sound and AirWire RC control. Most of the electronics are contained in a scratch built trailing car with changeable covers, this works for both locomotives and rail truck #556, shown elsewere on this site.
The side dump ore tippers are Bachmann cars that have been up-graded with kits from Sierra Valley Enterprises and lightly weathered. The small water car was built up from an LGB tipper frame and the standard flatcar (low side gondola) is a Bachmann Spectrum car modified with a load of gold ore from an actual gold mine.
